Chapter 14 Beijing Trip
Chapter 14 Beijing Trip
Kindergarten summer vacation has begun! The sunshine seems even brighter, as if cheering for this long holiday. Li Yuan's house is bustling with activity as everyone discusses their vacation plans.
Li Yuan sat on the sofa and said to her family with a smile, "Kindergarten is on holiday, let's go on a trip and let Qingqing relax too."
Li Yuan's parents exchanged a glance, their eyes full of anticipation. The father spoke first: "Great! It's nice to go out for a walk, but where should we go?"
At this moment, the younger brother, who hadn't said anything until now, scratched his head and said, "How about we go to Beijing? It's our capital, and there are lots of fun places there."
Li Yuan's eyes lit up: "That's a great idea. Qingqing can also go and see famous attractions like Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall."
Hearing that they were going to Beijing, Li Shiqing jumped up and down excitedly, her little braids swaying. She rushed into Li Yuan's arms and said loudly, "I love Mommy, I love Grandpa and Grandma, and I love Uncle coming with me. Beijing will be so much fun!"
Li Yuan hugged her daughter, smiled, and kissed her cheek: "Then it's decided, let's go to Beijing!"
In the days that followed, the whole family prepared for the trip. Li Yuan was busy booking flights and hotels online and made a long list of tourist attractions.
Li Yuan's mother was packing her luggage, muttering, "I need to bring more clothes and Qingqing's toys, so she won't be bored on the road."
The father helped from the side, occasionally offering suggestions: "Don't forget to bring some commonly used medicines, just in case."
My younger brother is researching Beijing's food guides, drooling as he reads: "I have to try Peking duck, and also Old Beijing fried noodles with soybean paste, I can't wait!"
Finally, the day of departure arrived. At the airport, Li Shiqing was like a cheerful little bird, running around with her suitcase, full of curiosity about everything around her. After boarding the plane, Li Shiqing sat by the window, her little nose pressed against the glass, excitedly looking at the blue sky and white clouds outside, constantly asking Li Yuan, "Mommy, when will we get to Beijing?"
Li Yuan smiled and said, "Baby, you'll be there soon after a nap."
Upon arriving in Beijing and exiting the airport, a lively atmosphere immediately greeted me.
Li Shiqing opened her eyes wide, looking around curiously. On the way to the hotel, Li Yuan pointed to the buildings outside the window and introduced them to her daughter: "Honey, look, this is Beijing. Isn't it big and beautiful?"
Li Shiqing nodded repeatedly, saying, "Beijing is so big, much bigger than where I'm from."
After arriving at the hotel, putting down their luggage and resting for a while, the family set off for Tiananmen Square.
When the magnificent Tiananmen Square came into view, Li Shiqing exclaimed, "Wow, Tiananmen Square is so big and spectacular!"
Li Yuan said with a smile, "This is a symbol of our country, it's very meaningful."
The family took photos in front of Tiananmen Square. Li Shiqing struck various cute poses, making everyone laugh.
After leaving Tiananmen Square, they headed to the Forbidden City. Walking through the ancient palace complex, Li Yuan told her daughter stories of ancient emperors and the imperial court.
Li Shiqing listened intently, asking every now and then, "Mom, does the emperor live here? What do they do every day?"
Li Yuan answered patiently, while her father added historical information. Her younger brother, with his camera, took pictures of the exquisite buildings and interesting corners, and occasionally captured some amusing moments for his family.
After visiting the Forbidden City, everyone was a little hungry.
My younger brother said excitedly, "Let's go eat Peking duck, I've been thinking about it for so long."
Arriving at a famous roast duck restaurant, everyone couldn't help but swallow hard at the sight of the reddish-brown, crispy-skinned, and tender roast duck.
After the roast duck was served, Li Yuan carefully rolled a roast duck roll for her daughter. Li Shiqing took a bite and her eyes lit up immediately: "It's so delicious, Mom, I want more!"
The family enjoyed their meal amidst laughter and joy.
The next day, they went to the Badaling Great Wall early in the morning.
Looking at the Great Wall winding up the mountain, Li Shiqing opened her mouth wide in surprise: "Mom, the Great Wall is so long, it's like a giant dragon."
Li Yuan held her daughter's hand and said, "Baby, this is a great creation of the ancient working people. Let's climb up to a high place and take a look."
At first, Li Shiqing was full of energy, skipping and hopping as she climbed. But after a short while, she was panting heavily.
Li Yuan encouraged her: "Qingqing, keep going! We should be like little warriors."
My grandparents followed slowly behind. My grandfather smiled and said, "This Great Wall is really long, but it's quite interesting to climb."
Her younger brother stayed by Li Shiqing's side, telling her legends about the Great Wall to distract her and help her keep climbing.
With encouragement from one another, the family finally climbed to a higher watchtower. From there, the magnificent view of the Great Wall unfolded before them.
Li Shiqing shouted excitedly, "We made it up! I'm a little warrior!"
Everyone laughed happily, enjoying the hard-won beautiful scenery and the joy of victory on the beacon tower.
Over the next few days, they also visited the Summer Palace, the Bird's Nest, and the Water Cube. At the Summer Palace, Li Yuan took her daughter for a walk along Kunming Lake, enjoying the beautiful scenery.
Looking at the small boats on the lake, Li Shiqing said to Li Yuan, "Mom, I want to row a boat."
So the family rented a small boat and leisurely rowed on the lake, enjoying the tranquility and beauty. At the Bird's Nest and Water Cube, Li Shiqing was attracted by their unique architectural designs, constantly asking questions. Her younger brother led her around, taking pictures of her and buying her some small souvenirs.
There were a few minor incidents during the trip. Once, Li Shiqing accidentally tripped and fell, scraping her knee and crying out in pain. Li Yuan felt extremely sorry for her and quickly picked her up, comforting her. Her grandmother also quickly took out a band-aid from her bag to treat her wound.
Li Shiqing cried and said, "Mom, I don't want to get hurt. I want to keep playing."
Li Yuan smiled and said, "Baby, you are a brave little warrior. This little injury is nothing. We'll rest for a bit and then continue playing."
With the comfort of her family, Li Shiqing quickly stopped crying and regained her energy.
Back at the hotel that evening, the family sat together, sharing the interesting things that had happened that day.
Li Yuan's father said with a smile, "This trip was really great. Seeing Qingqing so happy, it made our trip worthwhile."
The mother nodded and said, "Yes, and it's a rare opportunity for our whole family to get out together."
Her younger brother teased Li Shiqing, "Qingqing, which place did you like the most today?"
Li Shiqing tilted her head and thought for a moment, then said, "I like them all. The Great Wall is magnificent, Peking duck is delicious, and Tiananmen Square is beautiful." Everyone was amused by her answer.
As the holiday drew to a close, the family prepared to return home.
At the airport, Li Shiqing said with some reluctance, "Mom, I don't want to go back. I want to stay in Beijing."
Li Yuan hugged her daughter and said, "Baby, we'll have more chances to come and play again in the future. Was this trip very enjoyable?"
Li Shiqing nodded vigorously: "Yes, I love traveling with my mom, grandpa, grandma, and uncle the most!"
