Chapter 393 - 393: 393: Because he studied biology
"Alright everyone, sit down and eat already!"Someone, probably because they were genuinely starving, urged everyone impatiently.
Everyone sat down and began enjoying the feast, but somehow, all the food on the table unconsciously started drifting toward Kasenhis's direction.
Kasenhis accepted everything without hesitation.
Just a few hours ago, his internal organs had nearly been shaken into jelly. Eating a little more at a time like this...
Perfectly reasonable. Completely reasonable.
Meanwhile, after learning from Snape that Kasenhis had broken through the temporal barrier he personally created and returned to the world once more, Voldemort subconsciously wanted to light a cigarette and seriously reflect on life.
Between him and Kasenhis, who exactly was the one who made Horcruxes?
How was that guy's health bar so absurdly thick?
Was he literally incapable of dying?
Was this fair?!
But what could he even say?
He was just a weak, pitiful, helpless Dark Lord.
Did he have any dignity left at all?
All he could do was swallow the shattered teeth in his stomach and lie pitifully in bed, desperately trying to stop his tears from soaking the pillow.
Then the next day, continue charging out with his Death Eater companions to randomly pick a Muggle household and engage in some nice little S&M activities.
The kind where the "S" tortures the "M" to death.
....
Early the next morning, Dumbledore slowly pushed open the door to Kasenhis's room, pulled out his wand, and directly cast a Cooling Charm at the deeply sleeping Kasenhis.
Kasenhis jolted upright in shock and stared blankly at the suddenly appearing Dumbledore before slowly speaking.
"What exactly is wrong with you?"
"I need you to accompany me somewhere, Kasenhis. Last night, I stayed awake the entire night thinking about many, many things... would you like to hear them?"
Dumbledore pulled over a chair and sat down as he spoke.
"What.... just say it directly."
Kasenhis rubbed his face and shifted from lying down to sitting up, leaning against the headboard as he spoke.
"About the secret behind Tom's ability to resurrect," Dumbledore said slowly.
"Horcruxes. We already know that secret, don't we?"
Kasenhis raised an eyebrow.
"We know about Horcruxes, yes. But what exactly are Horcruxes? And where did he hide them?"
Dumbledore countered.
"You've found some clues?"
Kasenhis said in surprise.
"Quite obviously, yes. I told you, I stayed awake the entire night. I reviewed everything connected to Tom since the day he enrolled, along with anything that could possibly be related to him. Anything that could be connected to him in the slightest, I thoroughly investigated inside and out...."
"Whether through my own memories or Hogwarts's archives preserving all manner of major and minor events in the magical world throughout the years, I ultimately discovered certain things."
Dumbledore leaned back in his chair as he spoke.
"Mm-hm. Go on, I'm listening," Kasenhis said.
"Let me think... where should I begin? My apologies, old people tend to ramble... let's start here. I've always told you that Tom, as a half-blood wizard himself, managed to command pure-blood wizards..... do you find that a bit... clownish?"
Dumbledore said quietly.
"Clownish is absolutely the right word. But since you chose his bloodline as the entry point, what? Your clue lies somewhere within his wizard lineage?" Kasenhis asked.
"Correct. His mother, a witch surnamed Gaunt. Though her magic was not particularly powerful, she was indeed a witch."
At this point, Dumbledore closed his eyes and paused for a while, as though organizing his thoughts. Only after a long silence did he continue.
"Let me think..... The Gaunt family was a very ancient pure-blood family. Let's set aside the 'ancient' part for now and focus on the 'pure-blood' part. They pursued purity to such an extreme that, by the final generations of the family, they were producing mentally impaired and deformed offspring. Their magical talent had been squeezed dry by those twisted breeding habits."
"So much so that Merope Gaunt, Tom's mother, was a witch who lacked even the strength to save her own life at death's door."
Kasenhis nodded.
"Since you said the clue lies within Voldemort's mother's bloodline, can we skip straight to the main point instead of lingering on the tragic details of her life?"
Dumbledore silently chuckled.
"My mistake. I've become long-winded again. Merope Gaunt also had a brother, the head of the Gaunt family at the time. Though calling him the family head is generous. In reality, he was a drunkard with mediocre magical ability and an unclear mind."
"Sorry, I got sidetracked again."
"Back to Tom. After entering Slytherin, which was famous for valuing blood purity, Tom believed his own magic was far too exceptional for him to merely be some ordinary Muggle mutation. So he began... searching for relatives throughout the magical world. Although his methods back then were not yet as shameless and underhanded as they later became, if we thoroughly analyze the structure of his actions... it was basically him trying to claim connections."
The corners of Kasenhis's mouth twitched upward in amusement.
"Why not just put it more directly? You can simply say he was shameless."
Dumbledore waved his hand.
"Not quite yet, because in the end, he really did successfully identify his lineage. Through several of his Slytherin friends at the time, he learned some secrets about the pure-blood families."
"One of them involved the disgraceful descendants of the Gaunt family. One was a drunkard, while another was a magically weak... useless woman who shamelessly used a love potion to manipulate a Muggle gentleman. After the potion wore off, the Muggle man fled, and that useless woman left their child at an orphanage before eventually freezing to death in an alley, ending her pitiful yet hateful life."
"Our Mr. Tom Riddle initially looked down on such a family with immense contempt. But I must admit, he was extraordinarily intelligent back then. Smarter than anyone I've ever met, including myself, Gellert, Nicolas Flamel, and even you. Smarter than all of us..."
"So it became inevitable that he would suspect that his own powerful magic, combined with his tragic upbringing in an orphanage, was connected to the Gaunt family..."
Kasenhis raised an eyebrow and spoke again.
"So why would Voldemort first despise such a magically weak family, then immediately afterward believe that his own powerful self was related to them?"
"Because he studied Muggle biology. Perhaps something like... hybrid vigor?"
Dumbledore replied helplessly.
