Chapter 602: Life-saving Money!
Chapter 602: Life-saving Money!
"They say this Strange Mountain is dangerous, but I haven’t seen anything yet."
The journey had been perfectly safe so far, making the young dandies smug. They felt as if nothing was wrong.
"I bet the Tong Family deliberately spread those rumors to scare people away."
The group looked at Tong Wu.
Tong Wu couldn’t be bothered to argue with these idiots and just kept following Yang Qi. Yang Qi had activated his Heavenly Eye, allowing him to see everything in the forest with perfect clarity. Since Tong Wu was following him, he naturally encountered no problems.
The others, however, didn’t see it that way. The young dandies, flanked by their bodyguards, were treating the trip like a leisurely tour. They couldn’t have been more cocky.
However, this was no concern of Yang Qi’s, as he couldn’t have cared less about them. He had made it clear when they entered the mountain that he was only responsible for Li Chengshou’s safety. He was completely indifferent to whether the others lived or died.
"Everyone, halt!"
After walking a bit farther, Yang Qi suddenly stopped and waved his hand, his gaze sharpening.
With his Heavenly Eye, he could see a dark shadow rapidly approaching from the distance.
"Prepare for battle!" Yang Qi added.
This was his final act of mercy. He could have said nothing at all, but his words only provoked mockery.
Li Yang burst out laughing. "What battle? Are you nuts? There’s nothing here. Who are we supposed to fight? The air?"
Li Chengshou also sneered, "Do you really think you’re some kind of master? Master Qi hasn’t said a word, so what are you posturing for? Just ignore him. Let’s keep moving. This Strange Mountain is just a legend, after all. There’s no danger here."
The group followed Li Chengshou forward. Only Tong Wu stayed behind, warily watching the direction Yang Qi indicated.
Yang Qi gestured for Tong Wu to move back.
Meanwhile, the others continued to advance. Yang Qi had already given up on them.
At that moment, the dark shadow drew closer.
Master Qi finally realized something was wrong. This Master Qi did have some skill. He knew a few Spells and was what people would normally call a Taoist or a Feng Shui Master, but he was a far cry from a true Cultivator. At most, he had learned only the barest surface of Immortal Cultivation. Still, he could sense the danger.
By this point, the shadow was very close. Master Qi shouted a warning, but it was too late.
Someone was hit and sent flying.
Yang Qi could now clearly see the shadow—it was a wild boar. But this boar was several times larger than a normal one. It was hard to say what it had eaten to become so fast and terrifyingly powerful.
The bodyguards reacted quickly, charging forward, but they still couldn’t stop the boar’s assault. One was gored by its tusks and tossed into the air. He was already dead by the time he hit the ground.
Several bodyguards fought bravely. They were by no means weak, but they were still no match for the boar.
"There’s something strange about this boar," Yang Qi commented, sitting back and watching the scene as if it were a show.
"Something strange?" Tong Wu asked, confused.
"This boar must have eaten something. Its Combat Power is comparable to a Second Rank Overlord’s. With its strength and speed, I doubt anyone but you and I could handle it," Yang Qi said with a chuckle. "It seems this Strange Mountain really is full of Treasures. Since no one has been here to gather herbs for years, there might be some good stuff."
"AHH—!"
Another scream rang out as a bodyguard was sent flying. He wasn’t dead, but he was severely injured.
"You two! Aren’t you going to help?" Li Chengshou shouted.
"Yeah, help us! If my dad finds out you just stood by and did nothing, you’re finished!" Li Yang added.
Yang Qi lazily took a piece of chewing gum from his pocket and began to chew, looking completely unconcerned.
Their commanding tone is really grating. If they had kneeled and begged, I might have helped. But now? Forget it.
Tong Wu sneered. "You still have the nerve to ask Mr. Yang for help? A moment ago, when Mr. Yang warned you about the danger and told you to prepare for battle, every one of you was mocking him. What happened? Gone quiet now? If you have any guts, act like men and don’t cry for help!"
"Tong Wu, I paid you! You have to protect me!" Li Chengshou yelled.
"Aren’t you still alive?" Yang Qi said coolly. "Don’t worry. When your life is actually in danger, I’ll save you. But only you."
Li Chengshou was furious but helpless.
"Tong Wu, help me! I’ll pay you!" Li Yang yelled. "If you save me, my father will definitely reward you! Your Tong Family’s status in Sea City will rise too!"
"How much?" Tong Wu asked with a smile.
"Ten million! How about ten million?" Li Yang cried out.
"Oh? So the Young City Lord’s life is only worth ten million? That’s laughably cheap," Tong Wu sneered.
"One hundred million! One hundred million each! That has to be enough, right?!" Li Yang screamed.
The others all nodded in agreement. Their bodyguards were about to be overrun. If Tong Wu didn’t act now, they were all dead.
"Deal!"
Tong Wu glanced at Yang Qi. Seeing him nod, he finally made his move. This was the first time he had unleashed the Combat Power of a Second Rank Overlord, and he discovered it was even more terrifying than that of an ordinary one.
He killed the massive boar on the spot with a single punch.
Everyone was stunned.
But they didn’t know that Tong Wu was even more shocked than they were.
I’ve seen Second Rank Overlords before, but none of them possessed such immense Combat Power. It has to be because of that soup! What incredible luck, to have gotten on the good side of a divine figure like Yang Qi!
"Alright, transfer the money. Do it now. The signal is great even out here in the Strange Mountain," Tong Wu said with a smile, dragging the wild boar over to Yang Qi.
The group was reluctant, but they didn’t dare refuse. This might not be the only boar here. What would they do if they offended Tong Wu and ran into more trouble later? So, one by one, they took out their phones and called home to have the money transferred.
Tong Wu didn’t take any of the money; it was all transferred to Yang Qi’s account. The Tong Family wasn’t short on cash. This was about teaching these disrespectful brats a lesson.
After this incident, they were all scared out of their wits and didn’t dare to speak loudly anymore. This was especially true for Li Yang, whose expression when looking at Yang Qi had completely changed.
Anyone who can make Tong Wu so obedient is definitely no simple character.
"Mr. Yang, what should we do with this boar?" Tong Wu asked.
Yang Qi glanced at it. "This thing is a great find. Who knows how many medicinal herbs it ate to get this big? It’s a walking treasure trove. Since we can’t take it with us, we might as well eat it," he said.
As he spoke, he began to prepare the boar. Back then, Li Qiutong never liked to cook, so he had always been the one to do it. As a result, Yang Qi’s culinary skills were top-notch, easily rivaling those of a master chef.
