Chapter 1807 - 70: The Ancestor Awakens
Chapter 1807 - 70: The Ancestor Awakens
The battle between the Lan family and the Rothschild family was intense from the start, with both sides deploying their full arsenal. Spiritual Ability Battleships and Dark Spirits joined the fray, affecting the entire star system. Other families were inevitably drawn into the conflict, leading to unnecessary clashes.
The Rothschild family wasn’t entirely unprepared either. The tension between the two sides had always been high, and their family fleet was constantly ready for a major battle. However, the Lan family acted quickly, striking before they did.
The Great Elder, Alman, and others had already left. Most others had returned to their respective fleets, while Zhang Xiaoman and a few others, who were temporarily brought in by various family forces to explore the ruins, remained on the platform.
But this place was currently the safest. The platform was crafted by several Extraordinary Level powerhouses to seal potential energy leaks from the relic, setting up numerous formations. With Zi Kuang still present, even if the Plague God himself appeared, breaking through the defense here would not be easy in a short time.
"Heh, who would’ve thought this Array, meant to guard against a plague burst, would ultimately become a tool for defense against our own people. These folks used to fight inside the relics, but with the collapse of the Dark Star Alliance, they no longer need to keep up appearances and have started fighting openly. Is power really that important...?"
Zi Kuang looked at the chaos in the distance and couldn’t help but shake his head lightly.
He was once one of the Honorable members of the Dark Star Alliance, unaffiliated with any family force. His apparent status was similar to Zhang Xiaoman’s in the Lan family, a sort of Guest Elder.
Now that the Dark Star Alliance has disbanded, Zi Kuang naturally relinquished his Honorable status. Though many families tried to win him over, he declined them all.
At his level, his pursuits were different from those of ordinary Control Level people. While power and wealth were important, their value diminished as one progressed in cultivation. Extraordinary Level powerhouses like him mostly sought either immortality or strength, which, in essence, were interconnected.
Zhang Xiaoman also didn’t bother involving himself in their affairs. He’s no longer part of the Lan family, and given their recent attitude toward him, he had no reason to help them unnecessarily. Not stabbing them in the back was already gracious enough.
So, he looked quite relaxed, watching the spectacle with Zi Kuang.
However, while he and Ziwei’s father seemed at ease, the scattered Dark Spirits around them were noticeably more anxious.
The battle before them had an extensive impact. Although it was the Lan family and the Rothschild family at war, more than just those two forces were involved. The Yuanxin Clan and the Poison Clan also engaged in combat amidst the chaos, throwing the scene into disorder.
Based on past experiences, this war was unlikely to be short, with its outcomes potentially affecting neighboring systems too.
In such circumstances, the Dark Spirits didn’t have the luxury of Zhang Xiaoman’s teleportation ability or Zi Kuang’s overwhelming strength, making feelings of tension and panic inevitable.
Fortunately, the platform they were on was strong enough that no matter how intense the battle was outside, it couldn’t affect those inside. Here, they were safe and didn’t have to worry about getting involved.
Conversely, the space fortresses on the other side weren’t as lucky.
This was the junction of the Dark Spirit Star Domain, Insect Domain, and Beller Star Domain, once the Dark Star Alliance’s fourth line of defense. It was responsible for guarding the borders against the Insect Race and Beller drones, boasting one of the best defensive forces in the Dark Star Alliance.
However, after the Dark Star Alliance disbanded, most families were focused on their own interests, neglecting the soldiers here. Without proper pay, the soldiers naturally wouldn’t stay.
The armed facilities had long been dismantled or destroyed in the initial turmoil, losing their defensive capabilities.
Now, the Lords were conducting a massive battle here, with the entire fourth defense line affected, and the last bit of defense was obliterated. Only a few broken space fortresses stood in place, and the interstellar mercenaries within suffered heavy casualties, becoming collateral damage in the conflict.
Five hours into the battle, a change finally occurred. Two figures appeared in the center of the Rothschild family’s fleet. Although they were only two meters tall, in this battlefield dominated by cosmic warships and entire star systems as the backdrop, they were as noticeable as the brightest Constant Star. The strong Spiritual Power Field emanating from their bodies wasn’t something the Lan family’s Spiritual Power Battleships and Dark Spirits could ignore.
