Chapter 10 Kindergarten Opening Day
Chapter 10 Kindergarten Opening Day
The start of the school year is like a lively carnival, especially the first day of kindergarten. Li Yuan dragged her sleepy-eyed Li Shiqing out the door early in the morning. The little one was still drowsy and was being pulled along by her mother like a little puppet.
"Sweetie, today is your big day starting kindergarten, you can't be late!" Li Yuan said as she straightened Li Shiqing's hat, which was askew to one side.
"Mommy, I don't want to go to kindergarten, I want to sleep," Li Shiqing mumbled, her little face scrunched up like a little bitter gourd.
"That won't do. There are lots of fun toys and lots of other kids at kindergarten. It's much more interesting than sleeping," Li Yuan coaxed her daughter.
When they arrived at the kindergarten gate, the scene was like a bustling market. The cries of children, the comforting voices of parents, and the guiding voices of teachers mingled together, like a peculiar symphony.
As Li Yuan and Li Shiqing entered the kindergarten, they were immediately drawn to a little boy. The boy, dressed in a superhero costume, was wailing at the top of his lungs, "I don't want to go to kindergarten! I want to save the world!"
His father coaxed him helplessly, "Sweetie, once you learn the skills in kindergarten, you'll be able to save the world even better."
Li Yuan couldn't help but laugh. Her laughter prompted a mother next to her, who was holding a little girl, to remark, "Haha, this little boy is so funny. Is this your child's first day of kindergarten?"
“Yes,” Li Yuan replied, “I had a lot of trouble getting her here this morning. Where is your house?”
"My little one was so excited last night, saying she was going to kindergarten to make friends, but she got nervous this morning. Look at her little hands, she's holding onto my clothes and won't let go," the mother said with a smile, gently patting the little girl's hand in her arms.
Just then, a teacher walked over with a big smile and said, "Hello parents and children! I'm Teacher Zhang from the small class. You can call me Teacher Zhang."
Li Yuan quickly greeted her, "Hello, Teacher Zhang, this kindergarten looks really nice."
"Haha, yes, our kindergarten has so many fun places, the children will definitely love it. Come on, kids, let's go check out the classroom first," Teacher Zhang warmly greeted the children.
Li Yuan pulled Li Shiqing along with Teacher Zhang. A little boy's mother asked anxiously, "Teacher, my child doesn't sleep well at noon and kicks off the blankets really badly. What should I do?"
Teacher Zhang smiled and said, "Don't worry, our dormitory teachers are very attentive and will check on the children frequently. If he kicks off his blanket, we'll cover him up again and make sure he doesn't catch a cold."
As I walked, I came across another grandmother with her grandson. The grandmother was telling her grandson as she walked, "Sweetie, you have to listen to your teacher at kindergarten. If anyone bullies you, tell the teacher. If the teacher doesn't care, tell Grandma, and Grandma will take care of them."
The parents around them laughed. Li Yuan smiled and said to her grandmother, "Grandma, you really love your grandson. But it's normal for kids to have a little friction when they play together."
Grandma waved her hand: "That won't do, my darling can't be wronged."
When we arrived at the classroom, there were already quite a few parents and children inside. The classroom was decorated in vibrant colors, like a fairytale world. The walls were covered with cute cartoon drawings and various handicrafts, all made by previous children.
Li Yuan said to Li Shiqing, "Honey, look how beautiful this place is! You can make lots of pretty crafts here."
A glimmer of light appeared in Li Shiqing's eyes, and she whispered, "Really? Mom?"
"Of course!" Li Yuan said with a smile.
At this moment, another teacher came over and introduced herself: "Hello parents, I am Teacher Wang, in charge of the children's art and craft courses. We will have many fun craft activities this semester, such as making small animals out of colored paper and sculpting small cakes out of clay."
One parent exclaimed excitedly, "That's wonderful! My child loves playing with clay and spends all day at home kneading it."
Teacher Wang said with a smile, "Then he will definitely like our courses. We will let the children use their imagination to create all kinds of works."
Seeing Li Shiqing hiding shyly behind her, Li Yuan said to her, "Shiqing, don't you like drawing? You can tell the teacher."
Li Shiqing whispered to Teacher Wang, "Teacher, I like to draw little flowers."
Teacher Wang squatted down, looked at Li Shiqing, and said, "Drawing little flowers? That's wonderful! We can use colored crayons to draw colorful little flowers, and we can also use our fingers to draw them. Would you like to try?"
Li Shiqing's eyes lit up immediately, and she nodded vigorously: "Yes!"
Just then, another parent walked over with their child, a little girl with two pigtails. As soon as the little girl saw the toys in the classroom, she broke free from her mother's hand and ran towards them. Her mother laughed and said, "This child, she can't resist toys."
Li Yuan said, "Kids are all like that; they have no resistance to toys."
The mother said, "Yes, my child loves playing with dolls the most. I'm worried that she'll just play with toys and not study at kindergarten."
Upon hearing this, Teacher Zhang came over and explained, "Playing with toys is also a way for children to learn. Through playing with toys, they can develop their hands-on skills, spatial reasoning abilities, and learn to share with other children. We also have special courses to guide children to learn while playing."
As everyone was talking, they suddenly heard crying. It turned out that a little boy couldn't find his schoolbag and was crying loudly. His mother was comforting him while helping him look for it.
"Oh dear, don't worry, we'll definitely find it. Think about where you put it?" Mom said.
Finally, the schoolbag was found under a small table, and the little boy stopped crying and started to smile.
Li Yuan smiled and said to the parents around her, "This first day of school has been full of unexpected situations."
Everyone nodded in agreement. Then, another parent asked about the meal.
"Teacher, how is the food at the kindergarten? My child is a very picky eater."
Teacher Zhang replied, "Our meals are all prepared according to the children's nutritional needs, and there are different dishes every day. If a child is a picky eater, our teachers will also guide them to try new foods to ensure that the children eat healthily."
"What if the child doesn't like to eat it? Won't they go hungry?" a parent asked worriedly.
"No, we encourage the children to eat as much as possible, but we won't force them. If a child really can't eat, we'll talk to the parents to see if they have any special eating habits," Teacher Zhang explained patiently.
Just as everyone was chatting enthusiastically, the kindergarten principal walked in. The principal was a kind and approachable woman who smiled and said to the parents, "Welcome to our kindergarten, parents and children. Our kindergarten's mission is to let children learn happily and grow in a caring environment. We have an excellent teaching team, a rich curriculum, and a safe and comfortable environment. We hope that the children can spend a wonderful childhood here."
The parents all applauded, and Li Yuan felt particularly gratified. She watched as Li Shiqing started chatting with several children, and a weight was lifted from her heart.
"Mom, I like it here," Li Shiqing said to Li Yuan as she ran over.
"That's great, baby. You have to be happy here!" Li Yuan said with a smile.
The first day of school was filled with laughter, tears, and a variety of questions and answers. Li Yuan and the other parents were full of anticipation for the kindergarten, and the children were about to embark on a new journey of growth here.
