Chapter 29 The Reconstruction of Love

Mr. Liu, the father of Li Yuan and Liu Yixin, sat in a corner of the Western restaurant. The air around them seemed to tremble slightly, carrying an indescribable tension and anticipation.

Li Yuan gently stirred her coffee and broke the silence first: "Mr. Liu, you know that Li Shiqing has always longed for a father to be by her side."

Mr. Liu nodded slightly, his eyes revealing a hint of tenderness and understanding: "My Yixin is the same. Every time she sees other children with their mothers, the envy in her little eyes makes me feel really bad."

Li Yuan looked up at Mr. Liu, a slightly bitter smile appearing on her lips: "You know, both of our children are longing for a complete family. Shouldn't we try our best to create that opportunity for them?"

Mr. Liu pondered for a moment, tapping his fingers rhythmically on the table: "Okay, we can try getting to know each other. If everything is suitable, then let's settle things as soon as possible. Don't worry, I definitely won't shortchange you on the bride price."

Upon hearing this, Li Yuan quickly waved her hand: "Mr. Liu, there's something I need to make clear beforehand. If we ever remarry, I don't want Shi Qing to change her surname to Liu. Although she is my daughter with my ex-husband Wang Qiang, her name also reflects a part of her upbringing, and I hope you can understand."

Mr. Liu nodded without hesitation: "That's no problem. A name is just a label; the child's feelings are the most important thing."

After leaving the Western restaurant, the two began their slightly awkward yet expectant journey together.

For their first formal date, Mr. Liu suggested going to the zoo. Li Yuan specially wore a light blue dress and paired it with comfortable flat shoes, and also carefully dressed Li Shiqing and Liu Yixin up beautifully.

Upon arriving at the zoo entrance, Mr. Liu looked at Li Yuan and said with a smile, "You look like a beautiful little flower blooming in this zoo today."

Li Yuan blushed slightly: "You have such a sweet tongue, you always know how to make people happy."

Upon entering the zoo, Liu Yixin excitedly pulled Li Shiqing's hand, running to see the monkeys one moment and the elephants the next. Li Yuan and Mr. Liu followed behind, watching the two children's backs. Mr. Liu remarked, "Look how well these two children get along; it's as if they were born to be a family."

Li Yuan responded with a smile: "Yes, I hope we can get along as smoothly as they do."

But at this moment, Li Shiqing suddenly turned around, ran to Li Yuan's side, and whispered, "Mom, I want to drink juice."

Just as Li Yuan was about to go buy it, Mr. Liu quickly said, "I'll go, I'll go. I'm going to do my best today." Watching Mr. Liu rush off to buy juice, Li Yuan felt a warmth in her heart.

As they spent more time together, they had more and more to talk about.

On one occasion, they took their child to a park for a picnic. Li Yuan prepared a variety of delicious snacks and fruits, while Mr. Liu brought a large picnic blanket and some small toys.

On the lawn in the park, Mr. Liu watched Li Yuan's busy figure and joked, "You've prepared such a lavish picnic. I'm starting to wonder if you're a professional picnic chef."

Li Yuan rolled her eyes at him: "Isn't it all to make the children eat and play happily? And you, all you brought was a cloth and a few toys, and you're making sarcastic remarks here."

Mr. Liu smiled and moved closer to Li Yuan: "I still have a very important task to complete." As he spoke, he took a small box out of his pocket, opened it, and found a delicate butterfly hair clip inside. "I specially chose this for you because I think it goes perfectly with your pastoral outfit today."

Li Yuan was both surprised and delighted: "When did you become so romantic?"

Mr. Liu scratched his head: "Isn't this all the potential that you brought out?"

The two children were eating snacks with crumbs all over their mouths, and Liu Yixin even fed Li Shiqing a small piece of cake. The scene was incredibly heartwarming.

One evening, Mr. Liu had a sudden idea and called Li Yuan, saying, "How about we go out to see the stars? I know a small hill in the suburbs that's perfect for stargazing."

Li Yuan hesitated for a moment: "It's so late, what will happen to the children?"

Mr. Liu said with a smile, "I've made all the arrangements. I've asked the aunt next door to help look after things for a few hours, so we can relax a bit."

Li Yuan thought for a moment and then agreed. The two went to a small hillside in the suburbs, lay on the grass, and looked up at the starry sky.

Mr. Liu pointed to the stars in the sky and said, "Look, that North Star. Its position in the sky is almost unchanging, just like my heart for you. Once I've decided on a direction, I won't easily change it."

Li Yuan's eyes welled up with tears at this sudden, heartfelt confession: "When did you become so good at sweet talk?"

Mr. Liu chuckled and said, "These are all my genuine feelings, expressed from the heart."

Just as their relationship was blossoming, they encountered some minor setbacks.

Once, Li Yuan took Li Shiqing to visit Mr. Liu's house. Liu Yixin was playing with her favorite toy. Li Shiqing saw this and wanted to play with it too, so she ran over to ask Liu Yixin for it. Liu Yixin refused, and the two children started fighting over it.

Hearing the commotion, Li Yuan and Mr. Liu rushed over.

Li Yuan said somewhat awkwardly, "Shi Qing, you can't take your sister's toys; it's impolite."

Mr. Liu also said to Liu Yixin, "Yixin, if your sister wants to play, let her play for a while first. You two need to learn to share."

Neither child would listen, and the stalemate continued. Finally, Liu Yixin got angry and threw her toy on the ground, and Li Shiqing burst into tears. This little incident gave Li Yuan and Mr. Liu a headache. They realized that the problems facing a blended family were not only the adjustment of their own relationship, but also the interaction and education of the children.

However, they did not back down because of this.

Mr. Liu pulled his two children to his side and patiently said, "You are both Mommy and Daddy's most beloved children. From now on, we are a family. Family members should love and care for each other. If you both want to play with this toy, then play together, or take turns, okay?"

After hearing Mr. Liu's words, both children gradually stopped crying.

Li Shiqing said, sobbing, "Then I'll let my little sister play for a while."

Liu Yixin also said sensibly, "Sister, let's play together."

Seeing that the children had made up again, Li Yuan and Mr. Liu both breathed a sigh of relief.

As time went on, Li Yuan and Mr. Liu's relationship became increasingly natural and harmonious. They would discuss their children's education together and plan for their family's future.

One day, Mr. Liu said to Li Yuan, "I think we get along very well, and I think we can consider getting married. I've made up my mind, and I want to give you and the children a warm and happy home."

Li Yuan looked at Mr. Liu, her eyes filled with emotion: "I also think we can do it. However, marriage is no small matter, and there are many things to prepare."
