Chapter 76 Liu Qicheng's Football Field
Chapter 76 Liu Qicheng's Football Field
The sun was shining brightly, and a gentle breeze was blowing. Li Yuan and Liu Xuan got up early and made careful preparations to go to Liu Qicheng's school to cheer him on in his football match.
"Honey, do you think I'll be especially nervous about setting off today?" Li Yuan asked Liu Xuan with some concern as she arranged the cheering banners she had brought.
Liu Xuan smiled and replied confidently, "Our son has always had good mental fortitude. Besides, this is just a school soccer match; he'll definitely handle it. However, we need to give him a good talking-to and encourage him to be more energetic on the field!"
“Yeah, I just can’t help worrying.” Li Yuan folded the banner and put it in her bag, then checked the water bottle, towel and some snacks for energy in the bag again.
When the two arrived at the school playground, many parents and students were already seated in the stands. They quickly found Liu Qicheng's class and sat down in the front seats. Li Yuan looked around, trying to spot Liu Qicheng among the players warming up.
"My son is over there!" Liu Xuan, with his sharp eyes, pointed to Liu Qicheng, who was wearing the number 7 jersey in the distance and shouted.
Li Yuan looked in the direction he was looking and saw her son chatting and laughing with his teammates as they warmed up. A weight lifted from her heart. "He looks pretty good. I hope he can have a great performance today."
The match was about to begin, and the players from both sides entered the field. Liu Qicheng stood solemnly in the middle of the team, his eyes fixed firmly ahead. As the national anthem played, everyone sang along solemnly, including Li Yuan and Liu Xuan, their gazes always following Liu Qicheng.
"Beep—" The referee blew his whistle, and the game officially began. Liu Qicheng's team kicked off first, and he dashed out like an arrow, actively fighting for possession of the ball.
"Go! Set off! Go!" Li Yuan immediately stood up, waving the banner in her hand and shouting loudly.
Not to be outdone, Liu Xuan whistled loudly and shouted, "Number 7, well done!"
In a fierce battle, Liu Qicheng successfully won the ball. He skillfully broke through the defense of two opposing players and ran quickly along the sideline.
"Son, go for it! Don't hesitate!" Liu Xuan jumped up excitedly, waving his hands in the air.
Li Yuan nervously clenched her hands together, repeatedly muttering, "Be careful, don't trip..."
Just as Liu Qicheng was about to break into the penalty area, an opposing defender tackled him from the side. "Ah!" Li Yuan couldn't help but exclaim, her heart leaping into her throat.
Fortunately, Liu Qicheng reacted quickly, leaping lightly over the opponent's tackle and then swiftly passing the ball to his teammate inside the penalty area. His teammate received the ball and unleashed a powerful shot, which grazed the post and went wide of the goal.
"Oh dear, what a pity!" Liu Xuan slapped his thigh in frustration.
Li Yuan breathed a sigh of relief and said, "It's okay, it's just the beginning, there will be plenty of opportunities."
The first half was extremely intense, with both sides exchanging attacks and defenses, but neither could break through the opponent's goal, and the score went into halftime at 0-0.
During halftime, Li Yuan and Liu Xuan visited Liu Qicheng in the players' rest area.
"Son, you played great in the first half!" Liu Xuan said, patting Liu Qicheng on the shoulder.
Liu Qicheng wiped the sweat from his forehead and said with a smile, "Dad, Mom, I'm a little nervous. I feel like I haven't performed to my full potential yet."
Li Yuan handed over a water bottle and a towel, saying gently, "Don't put too much pressure on yourself, just do your best. You saw some great breakthroughs in the first half, just keep it up in the second half."
"Okay, I understand. The coach just gave us some new tactics, and we're sure we can score in the second half." Liu Qicheng took a few sips of water, his fighting spirit rekindled in his eyes.
After the start of the second half, Liu Qicheng's team intensified their attack. Liu Qicheng became increasingly adept at organizing and orchestrating the midfield, creating numerous excellent opportunities for his teammates.
During an attack, Liu Qicheng received a back pass from his teammate, made a slight adjustment, and then delivered a precise long pass, finding the striker who was making a high-speed forward run. The striker received the ball and had a one-on-one opportunity, calmly slotting the ball past the goalkeeper.
"Goal!!!" Li Yuan jumped up excitedly and hugged Liu Xuan tightly. "That's great, son!"
The entire stands erupted in cheers, with students and parents alike shouting the names of the players who scored the goal.
Liu Qicheng and his teammates celebrated excitedly. As he ran down to the stands, he made a gesture of thanks to Li Yuan and Liu Xuan.
After that, Liu Qicheng's team became more and more courageous. In another corner kick attack, Liu Qicheng headed the ball across, and his teammate finished it off at the far post, extending the score to 2-0.
As the game neared its end, the opposing team launched a fierce counterattack, but Liu Qicheng and his teammates defended tenaciously, giving the opponent no chance.
Finally, the referee blew the whistle to end the game, and Liu Qicheng's team won the match with a score of 2-0.
Li Yuan and Liu Xuan excitedly rushed down from the stands to Liu Qicheng's side. Liu Qicheng had a big smile on his face; although tired, he couldn't hide his excitement.
"Son, you're amazing! That was a beautiful win!" Liu Xuan patted Liu Qicheng's shoulder hard again.
Li Yuan looked at her son with concern and said, "You must be exhausted. Drink some water and rest for a bit."
Liu Qicheng took the water bottle, drank it in big gulps, and then said, "Mom and Dad, I feel especially strong today with you cheering me on."
"Silly child, we will always support you," Li Yuan said with a smile, tears welling up in her eyes.
Li Yuan and Liu Xuan had just brought Liu Qicheng home from his soccer match when they saw Li Shiqing and Liu Yixin carrying their schoolbags and chattering as they walked in.
"Mom and Dad, we're back! School was so much fun today..." Before Li Shiqing could finish speaking, Liu Yixin interrupted her.
"Sister, don't tell me yet, I want to tell Mom and Dad about the masterpiece I drew in art class, it's truly amazing!" Liu Yixin exclaimed excitedly, gesturing wildly.
Li Yuan and Liu Xuan exchanged a glance, then shook their heads with a smile.
Liu Xuan cleared his throat and said mysteriously, "Don't rush, your mother and I went to see a super exciting 'battle' today, much more exciting than the fun things you do at school."
Li Shiqing's eyes lit up, and she asked curiously, "What kind of battle? Is it a superhero battle like in the movies?"
Li Yuan replied with a smile, "It wasn't a movie, it was your brother's soccer match. The scene was even more exciting than a blockbuster."
"My brother's soccer game? Tell us about it!" Liu Yixin said eagerly, pulling on Li Yuan's arm.
Liu Xuan began to describe the game with great enthusiasm: "Your brother was lightning fast on the court today! Like a little cheetah. As soon as the game started, he was like he had oil on his feet, rushing out to steal the ball in a flash. When the opposing players tried to stop him, hey, he dodged left and right, like he was doing street dance, making them all dizzy."
Li Shiqing giggled, "Dad, you're exaggerating. My brother isn't that amazing."
"I'm not exaggerating, this is just the beginning," Liu Xuan said indignantly. "When your brother dribbles the ball forward, his speed is so fast that I suspect he secretly installed a small motor in himself. Just as he was about to reach the penalty area, an opposing player came flying in from the side with a tackle, looking like he was going to knock the ball and your brother away together."
"Ah! Is my little brother alright?" Liu Yixin covered her mouth nervously.
"Don't rush me, who's your brother? He's incredibly clever. With a light leap, like a ballerina, he flew over the tackler's leg and then smoothly passed the ball to his teammate. The passing motion was as elegant as a martial arts master unleashing their power, incredibly precise." Liu Xuan said, imitating the passing motion.
Li Yuan added from the side, "Then, his teammate received the ball and took a shot, but unfortunately the ball grazed the post and went out. It almost went in, and your dad and I were so anxious that we were stomping our feet."
"Haha, and then what happened?" Li Shiqing laughed so hard that tears almost came out.
"The real climax came in the second half," Liu Xuan continued. "Your brother was like a commander in midfield, orchestrating everything with the ball. He spotted a good position for the striker with a quick glance, then launched a long pass. The ball seemed to have eyes, flying directly to the striker's feet. The striker took a shot, and the ball flew into the goal like a cannonball. The whole playground erupted. Your mother and I almost lost our voices from shouting, constantly yelling 'Go Qicheng!'"
"Wow, my little brother is amazing!" Liu Yixin jumped up excitedly.
“There’s more to come,” Li Yuan said with a smile. “Later, there was another corner kick opportunity. Your brother ran into the penalty area and was fighting with a group of opponents for a header. With a flick of his little head, he headed the ball to his teammate, who easily pushed it into the goal. At that moment, I saw that the opponents were stunned, probably thinking, ‘How is this kid so amazing?’”
“I knew my brother would be really good; he always practices ball in the yard,” Li Shiqing said proudly.
"However, towards the end of the match, the opposing team launched a furious counterattack, like a pack of hungry wolves pouncing on us. But your brother and his teammates held firm, like warriors guarding a castle. Your brother's expression was so serious, like a little old man, he was really focused," Liu Xuan said with a smile.
"And then what? And then what?" Liu Yixin asked impatiently.
"In the end, of course, your brother's team won! A complete victory of 2-0. When your brother came off the field, he was drenched in sweat as if he had just been pulled out of the water, but the smile on his face was brighter than the sunshine," Li Yuan said.
Li Shiqing and Liu Yixin listened with envy and excitement.
"Little brother, you did a great job in the soccer match," Li Shiqing said.
“Yes, we also need you to teach us how to play football,” Liu Yixin chimed in.
Liu Qicheng said proudly, "Okay, sister."
And so, the family continued to share the joy and warmth of the football match amidst laughter and chatter.
