Chapter 1 Crossing
Chapter 1 Crossing
“Woooooaaaaaaa…”
The sharp cry of a baby pierced his eardrums, and he felt a shaking sensation under his body. Shang Wan frowned slightly and slowly opened his eyes.
The azure blue sky and the pure white clouds came into view. She was stunned. There were blue sky and white clouds in the apocalypse!
By the way, didn't she die in the zombie tide? Could this be heaven?
Her head suddenly felt a sharp pain, and a large number of memories that did not belong to her flooded into her mind.
Shang Wan blinked slowly and quickly figured out his current situation through his memory.
She traveled through time, and this was not the end of the world, but an ancient time similar to the Zhou Dynasty that she had seen in documentaries.
The original owner of this body was also called Shang Wan. She was the daughter-in-law of Sanlang of the Lu family, a wealthy man in Dongning County. She had a daughter and was not liked by her parents-in-law.
Yesterday, the husband of this body was imprisoned for poisoning the county magistrate. The Lu family was worried about being implicated, so they convened a meeting of the elders overnight and deleted the original owner's family of three from the family tree. From then on, they had nothing to do with the Lu family.
Mr. Lu ordered the housekeeper to kick the original owner out of the Lu family along with the children, not even allowing them to pack their belongings. In other words, they were kicked out with nothing.
Shang Wan curled the corners of his lips. No matter what, being alive is a good thing.
She propped herself up and found that there was a shabby cart lying beneath her. No wonder it was shaking so much.
The man pulling the cart in front and the woman walking beside her holding a baby in her arms obviously didn't notice that she had woken up and were talking in low voices.
"The young lady keeps crying, and no matter how I comfort her, it's useless. When will the young lady wake up?"
"The young lady has always been weak, and she was pushed against the stone lion just now. There is a walnut-sized swelling on her forehead. I'm afraid she won't wake up for a while."
Shang Wan raised his hand and touched his forehead, and sure enough, there was a big bump. No wonder he felt a headache.
She subconsciously used the spiritual spring water for treatment.
A drop of transparent water flowed out from her white and tender fingertips, fell on the swelling, and disappeared in an instant, and the pain was gone.
If you look closely, that patch of skin seems to be whiter and tenderer than the surrounding skin.
Shang Wan looked down at his white fingertips which were empty.
Good news: her spatial ability is still there, and the healing effect of the spiritual spring water is as powerful as ever.
Bad news: The level 10 alien space had shrunk, not only had the space become smaller, but everything she had stored in it was also gone, and there was very little spiritual spring water left, only about five or six drops.
"Ah, Madam!"
Hearing the exclamation, Shang Wan looked up and saw the swaddled girl staring at her with her eyes wide open in surprise and joy.
It was Xiaohuan, the original owner’s personal maid.
"Madam, you're finally awake!" Xiao Huan trotted over excitedly and looked at Shang Wan's forehead with concern, "Your injury... eh?"
Where did the walnut-sized bag go?
The sudden high pitch of the voice out of surprise scared the baby in the cradle, and the crying that had originally weakened became louder again.
"Woah woah woah woah..."
Xiaohuan quickly rocked the swaddling clothes and coaxed the baby softly.
The man pulling the cart stopped and turned around, staring at Shang Wan viciously with eyes as sharp as knives.
This guy seems to be her cheap husband's servant, named Shitou. He is quite fierce despite his young age.
"Why are you staring at me? Don't you want your eyes anymore?" She wasn't the one who was going to cuckold her master.
Shang Wan would not suffer for nothing because of the problems left by the original owner. A fierce light flashed across his eyes that was inconsistent with his appearance.
Shitou was stunned by the sudden burst of evil spirit from Shang Wan. Is this still the delicate and weak young lady who would only cry and whine when faced with trouble? How come she has become a different person?
He clenched his fists and said angrily: "It's all because of you that this happened to the young master. Why wasn't it you who was arrested and put in jail?"
"Shitou!" Xiao Huan couldn't even bother to comfort the crying child in his arms, and hurriedly shouted, "How dare you talk to the young lady? Apologize to her immediately!"
"I didn't say anything wrong!" Shitou pursed his lips stubbornly and turned his head away.
"Madam, Shitou accidentally said the wrong thing because he was worried about the safety of the young master. Please be magnanimous and forgive him this time." Xiaohuan quickly pleaded for Shitou, "You were pushed down by Butler Liu and hit your head. Shitou almost rushed up to fight with Butler Liu, and it was he who found the cart and dragged you all the way here."
These were the things that happened after the original owner fainted, so Shang Wan naturally had no idea about them.
She looked at the purple scar on Shitou's cheek and thought that the young boy had a very weird personality.
"I don't bother with kids."
Shang Wan waved her hand generously, and Shitou turned his head and glared at her angrily. When Shang Wan looked over, he quickly retracted his glare and pursed his lips into a straight line.
Shang Wan laughed secretly. Was he frightened by what she had just said?
Hearing the baby in the cradle cry until it was hoarse, Shang Wan leaned over to look at it in confusion, "Why is she crying all the time?"
The one-year-old baby girl clenched her fists, opened her mouth with only two small teeth, and cried at the top of her lungs. Her little face, which was less than the size of a palm, turned red, and tears flowed out like crazy.
It's such a small body with great energy.
"Young Madam, please hug the young lady." Xiaohuan looked at Shang Wan eagerly, her eyes full of pleading.
The young lady always disliked the young lady because she was a girl, and she never hugged her unless necessary, let alone coaxed her. But the young lady liked to stick to the young lady, and she would stop crying as long as the young lady hugged her and coaxed her a little.
Shang Wan stared at his adopted daughter.
In the end times, cubs are rare and are the hope of mankind. She has only seen them but never held one.
It's such a small and soft ball. What if I can't control the strength and end up hugging the person to death?
Shang Wan was struggling with her feelings when the little baby girl stretched out her chubby little hands towards her, crying. Her big, watery, dark eyes stared at her with admiration, and she mumbled, "Liang... Mother..."
Who can stand this?
When Shang Wan came back to her senses, she had already held the little guy in her arms. She controlled her strength very carefully and rocked him gently, imitating Xiaohuan's way of coaxing a child.
Strangely enough, the little baby girl stopped crying as she was in her arms. She looked at her with eyes like black grapes and smiled at her with her little mouth, with saliva flowing down the corners of her mouth and onto her little bib.
Shang Wan couldn't help but raise the corners of his lips slightly, and poked the little girl's soft tofu-like face with his fingers, "Yuanyuan is so good."
Yuanyuan was the nickname the original owner gave to her adopted daughter.
Although the original owner didn't like this girl, her father and the wet nurse took good care of her and raised her to be plump and white.
Yuanyuan seemed tired of crying. She closed her eyes and fell asleep with her chubby fingers in her little mouth. A few tears were still hanging on her thick and long eyelashes.
Seeing this, Xiaohuan breathed a sigh of relief. She looked up and saw Shang Wan's gentle expression. She didn't reach out to take the child back, but whispered about her and Shitou's plan.
They certainly can’t go back to the Lu family now, but the place where Lu Chengjing recuperated as a child is still there, and can provide a temporary place for the three of them to stay.
Three hours later, Shang Wan looked at the thatched house in front of him that was about to collapse in the wind, squinted his eyes and said, "Is this the Feng Shui treasure land you mentioned?"
