Chapter 137 Detention
Chapter 137 Detention
After Miss Dong reminded me, I thought back carefully and realized that I had attended Dong family banquets with Song Yafei before.
Perhaps it was at one of the banquets, but I didn't think much of it at the time.
Miss Dong seemed to remember something, and she pointed at me with her finger.
"I remember now, you're Song Yafei's useless husband, the one who lives in the Song family."
That's pretty much how people perceive me, and I haven't refuted it.
I thought that Ms. Dong must not have a good impression of me because she said such unreasonable things to me.
To my surprise, he didn't refuse me; instead, he had the security guard take me upstairs.
After going upstairs, Ms. Dong sat on the sofa.
Miss Dong is stunningly beautiful and has a somewhat arrogant air about her, but she is different from Song Yafei's domineering nature.
Ms. Dong threw her bag into the security guard's hand and took off her gloves.
"Speak, what is it? You better have something to say, otherwise even if you are Song Yafei's husband, I won't give you a kind look."
I've been waiting for him or her to say those words, and I can't wait any longer.
"Excuse me, Miss Dong, have you met Lin Qiuran?"
"Lin Qiuran? I've seen that man before. What's wrong?"
"Miss Dong, do you know where he is right now?"
Miss Dong's face darkened. "What do you mean by that? Are you imprisoning him?"
Right now, I don't care what she thinks, I just want to know where Lin Qiuran is.
"Lin Qiuran has disappeared. His family has been searching for him for several days but they haven't been able to find him. His wife and children are waiting for him at the hospital."
"Moreover, their condition is not good, and they must be sent back immediately."
Miss Dong stood up from the sofa in surprise. "What happened?"
I don't know if she really doesn't know. If she's pretending, that would be terrifying. But judging from her expression, she seems genuinely unaware.
"His child was born with a severe infection, and his wife is waiting for him."
I told her the truth and hoped that Miss Dong could understand and forgive Lin Qiuran no matter what he did.
Ms. Dong found it hard to believe, "You mean he's married and has children?"
I was surprised that Ms. Dong would ask such a question, but I nodded nonetheless.
"Yes, why do you ask that, Miss Dong?"
“She said all this the first time we met, but I didn’t believe her. With my status, too many people would want to get close to me. I thought it was just an excuse for her to get my attention.”
So, Lin Qiuran actually did come to see Miss Dong.
Just from Ms. Dong's words, I felt that she was more than just naive.
But when I think about this incident, and that Ms. Dong was the one who caused it, I can't help but blame her for creating this situation.
"Miss Dong mistook him for a lecherous rogue, but she didn't know that he just wanted to get justice for his wife and children."
A hint of guilt flashed across Ms. Dong's face, but it was quickly covered by indifference.
Miss Dong, a wealthy person, grew up surrounded by money and was pampered like a princess, a stark contrast to the hardships of life for us ordinary people.
She wouldn't understand our longing for a family; she wouldn't complicate what we want, which is so simple.
Ms. Dong's face flashed with impatience. "We've already paid all the compensation we owed for that matter, and even our driver has been arrested. What more do you want?"
"Is it only fair if I'm arrested too? I wasn't the one driving!"
I didn't want to argue with her, but I couldn't help but retort because Ms. Dong didn't seem like the kind of person who would make trouble or cause a ruckus.
"But if it weren't for your decision, or if you had taken them to the hospital sooner, none of this would have happened."
"If you feel even a little bit guilty, please tell me where Lin Qiuran is now? His child is having a very hard time."
When I mentioned the child, Ms. Dong immediately calmed down and sat back on the sofa somewhat awkwardly.
Seeing this, I felt much more at ease; at least this trip wasn't a complete waste of time.
Perhaps we'll see Qiu Ran soon.
Finally, we can give Wu Qian and her child an explanation.
Miss Dong sat there, her head slightly lowered, murmuring softly.
"I didn't know it was so serious, but I quickly had someone handle it."
Even without seeing her expression, her words revealed that she felt guilty.
But that's not important right now. There's only one thing I want to know.
"Then make amends by telling me where Lin Qiuran is. I think they will be grateful to you."
Miss Dong looked up at me, but her face showed a troubled expression, which gave me a bad feeling.
She seemed hesitant to speak, and in the end, it was the security guard beside her who explained the situation.
“We were detained for a day, and yesterday the young lady told us to release him. We really don’t know where he is now.”
What?! Detention!
Upon hearing this, I immediately flew into a rage.
"Detaining her? What right do you have to do this? If Mr. Dong finds out about Miss Dong's behavior, I wonder what he'll think!"
Because of my words, Miss Dong's expression turned somewhat unpleasant, and there was even a blush on her face that I couldn't understand.
But I only touched on the subject briefly, not wanting to offend her completely.
At the opportune moment, change the subject: "In that case, Miss Dong, please send someone to look for him again. Something must have happened to him, otherwise he would have gone back."
Upon hearing this, a hint of worry flashed across Miss Dong's face, and she quickly instructed the security captain beside her, "Send someone to look for it immediately."
"Yes."
The security captain immediately took his phone and went to the side to make contact.
I have no connections in City S, and right now I can only rely on her.
Moreover, given Ms. Dong's status, finding someone should be an easy task.
But I didn't expect that the extent of this matter would far exceed my imagination.
During the wait, Ms. Dong didn't go to the show. Instead, she waited with me, and seemed distracted and even a little nervous.
I felt a little uneasy, so I casually chatted with her.
"Miss Dong, forgive my bluntness, but you seem quite different from other spoiled young ladies. Why would you imprison Lin Qiuran?"
I don’t know if Ms. Dong is truly naive, but she actually confided some of her innermost thoughts to me, though I couldn’t easily discern whether it was true or not.
She stared blankly at something, looking like someone in their fifties or sixties who had taken life and death in stride.
She sighed, "People like us have our lives predetermined, and we have no say in what we do."
Does she also have this kind of trouble?
"Not everyone can be like Song Yafei, willing to give up shortcuts for love."
The sudden shift to Song Yafei caught me off guard, but the conversation was certainly intriguing.
"Lin Qiuran's difference intrigues me, but I just want to keep her around to amuse myself."
