Chapter 29 The Devilish Young Master
Chapter 29 The Devilish Young Master
There was a minute of silence on the other end.
Just as Shen Xi thought Jiang Ci was about to explode, a cold voice came from the other end:
"Give the phone to Miss Shen."
Jiang Du placed the smartwatch in Shen Xi's hand.
I don't know if it's because Jiang Du held it for too long, but the watch got a little hot to the touch.
Good evening, Mr. Jiang.
Shen Xi spoke respectfully, and unconsciously straightened her back just like the child next to her.
"I'm sorry, I didn't watch the child properly and he disturbed you."
The other person seemed somewhat apologetic, but Jiang Ci's tone was flat and even, making it seem as if he was simply stating a fact.
"I didn't mind, but it's still a bit unsafe for the child to travel alone by plane."
“It’s my fault. If Miss Shen doesn’t find it troublesome, could Jiang Du stay with you for the night? I can pay him a fee. I’ll pick him up tomorrow.”
Although the "considerable reward" mentioned by the domineering CEO was indeed tempting, Shen Xi still refused it righteously. His child was still with him. If he accepted it, how could he face himself? The thought of the person he had traveled a long way to see coming to entertain him for a reward was heartbreaking.
"No need for payment. Jiang Du is very obedient and doesn't cause any trouble."
Jiang Ci didn't say much, and the two hung up the phone after making their decision.
Although he might be leaving tomorrow, Jiang Du felt a secret joy in his heart. At least he could spend one night with his mother, right?
This is already good.
"Xiao Jiangdu, did you quarrel with your father?" Shen Xi leaned back on the sofa and looked at him teasingly.
Jiang Du hesitated for a moment, then nodded and said softly:
“Dad is so mean, he…”
He won't let me come to see you.
Seeing that the child hesitated for a long time without saying anything, I knew that there might be something hidden in this matter.
Instead of pressing for answers, she looked on with a sigh:
"I'm really touched. I never thought Xiaoman would still remember me."
That's true. She's been living outside for almost a month now, and besides Su Su and Qi An, she doesn't have many friends.
Humans are social animals; even if someone lives alone, they will have at least two or three social networks around them.
Sometimes Shen Xi feels lonely when she's home alone. After playing games by herself, she sleeps all afternoon. When she wakes up and sees the sunset, she feels a sense of desolation, as if the whole world has abandoned her.
Even though Jiang Du is the male lead's child, his concern for her deeply moved Shen Xi.
It feels so good to be remembered and needed.
Jiang Du felt a little shy. He thought, "I wish I could always be with you."
Perhaps it was because the dessert was too sugary, but Jiang Du felt as if he had been showered with honey.
Shen Xi saw the sparkle in Jiang Du's eyes and knew that the child was happy.
She was happy too.
Shen Xi led the child on a tour of her little house: "Let me show you my little house. That's the small balcony. There's a succulent plant in there. I bought it when I first moved in because I thought it would be easy to take care of."
Jiang Du looked at the thick succulent petals and silently memorized them, thinking that he would grow one just like it when he got back.
Shen Xi then led the child behind a sheet that had been erected around the living room. Behind it was a small space that served as her little art studio.
"Ta-da! This is where I usually work. Look at these clay sculptures and paintings I did not long after you came. What do you think? Aren't they beautiful?"
Shen Xi treated Jiang Du as if he were chatting with a friend, without any elder's words, just like a conversation between peers.
Jiang Du has always been a great source of emotional support for others. He clapped his hands enthusiastically and said repeatedly, "Mom's drawing is so good! Mom is so amazing!"
He gave a thumbs-up as he spoke.
Shen Xi blushed at the praise.
Oh dear, this makes me so embarrassed (waves hand shyly).
Next, Shen Xi gave Jiang Du a general look at the kitchen and bedroom.
Jiang Du glanced at him politely, then looked away.
The white light made the child look even more refined; his skin was as white and delicate as fresh snow, his eyelashes were thick and long, and his eyebrows were sharp, which made him look even more heroic.
On a whim, Shen Xi felt a sudden urge and asked, "Xiao Man, would you like to be my model?"
Jiang Du had always been accommodating to Shen Xi's requests, so he nodded in agreement.
"Mommy, what kind of pose should I strike?"
He was also a little expectant, his eyes shining as he looked at her.
"No need to pose, I'm going to paint a colored picture, like the clay sculpture I just showed you."
"Great!"
Comrade Xiaoman became even more excited upon hearing this.
Shen Xi asked the little boy if he had a favorite shape or color.
"Grayish-white!"
Shen Xi was a little puzzled; why would someone so young like such a dark color?
But she still did as he asked, and she took the palette and started dipping it in water to mix the colors.
Jiang Du moved to his mother's work area, where he wouldn't have to worry about getting his hands dirty.
"Close your eyes, I'm about to begin."
Jiang Du immediately closed his small eyes.
Shen Xi took a quick look at the proportions with her paintbrush and began to lightly paint.
She first adorned the corners of the child's eyes with small white pearls, drawing out the lighter colors first.
Then I traced along the outer corner of the child's eye and added two more strokes above the eye, and the eye makeup was done in no time.
Then Shen Xi was struck by inspiration and began to write almost without hesitation.
She quickly put down her paintbrush.
"It's dark, please open your eyes." Shen Xi said with a smile.
From the moment Jiang Du began to approach his mother and start drawing, he unconsciously smelled the pine scent on her body, a scent from a laundry detergent.
He dared not raise the corners of his lips, afraid of ruining her creation; of course, he was also looking forward to it.
Slowly, Jiang Du opened his eyes. He looked at himself in the mirror in Shen Xi's hand and opened his mouth in surprise.
"I did a little devil makeup look for Christmas."
Shen Xi coughed: "This is for my devilish young master."
Jiang Du's eyes widened, filled with laughter: "I love it! Mom's drawing skills are amazing!"
Shen Xi was so proud of the compliment that she almost pouted, but she was forced to suppress it.
Shen Xi took many photos of him to commemorate the occasion.
"Alright, alright, it's getting late, it's getting late, it's time to rest."
Shen Xi watched Jiang Duxiu yawn, then glanced at her phone and realized it was indeed getting late.
After washing Jiang Du's face, she carefully explained to him how to use these things before closing the door and leaving.
Shen Xi leaned against the bathroom door, deep in thought. The child would definitely need a change of clothes after his bath, and she certainly didn't have any. Should she borrow some from Su Su?
I wonder if Qi'an has any larger clothes.
She called Su Su and explained that a child had come to visit and she didn't have any clothes with her, so she wanted to borrow a set.
Su Su said gently, "I happen to have a set that was a gift from our business partner. I'll give it to you."
