Chapter 402, "The Woman Who Left," is finished.
On June 25, filming for "The Woman Who Left" officially wrapped up in Xiancun, Guangzhou.
The final scene depicts Li Xuemei, played by Fan Binbin, walking out of the urban village. Sunlight filters through the gaps between the closely packed buildings, casting interplay of light and shadow on her face.
She carried a small bag and walked out of the narrow alley at a steady pace, her gaze calmly fixed ahead.
Fu Yibai shouted "Cut!" and the set was quiet for two seconds.
Then Ning Hao was the first to applaud.
Applause erupted from every corner, growing from a sparse clamor to a thunderous roar.
Fan Binbin stood in the middle of the alley, turned around and looked at the crew members who had been with him day and night for nearly two months. His eyes were red, but he didn't cry.
She bowed to everyone.
Fu Yibai walked up to her.
"it's over."
"Okay, it's over."
"Go back and get some rest."
That evening, the film crew held a wrap party at a hotel near Xian Village.
Several tables of people filled the hotel's small banquet hall to capacity.
Fu Yibai, holding a wine glass, went from table to table offering toasts.
When she got to Fan Binbin's table, she stood up and clinked glasses with him.
"This is the most tiring film I've ever acted in."
"It's also the most outstanding one."
"You always say that."
"What was wrong this time?"
Fan Binbin didn't reply, but tilted his head back and downed the wine in his glass.
After the wrap party, Fu Yibai returned to his hotel room.
Zhang Xinyu had already packed her luggage, with two suitcases placed side by side at the door.
"Mr. Fu, my flight back to Beijing is at 10 a.m. tomorrow."
"it is good."
Zhang Xinyu hesitated for a moment while standing in the living room.
"Mr. Fu, do you need me to stay tonight?"
Fu Yibai glanced at her.
"Go back and rest. You've been exhausted these past few days."
Zhang Xinyu nodded, pecked Fu Yibai on the lips, and turned to walk out.
As she reached the door, she paused, glanced back at Fu Yibai, and smiled slightly.
Goodnight, Yibai.
"Good night."
May 27th, 10:00 AM.
Fu Yibai landed in Beijing.
Zhang Xinyu had arranged a car in advance to drive directly from the airport back to Chenxi Building.
He left in mid-May and returned in almost July.
The office on the 28th floor was exactly the same as before he left. Fu Yibai took off his suit jacket and draped it over the back of his chair. He sat down and began to look through the documents that had accumulated over this period of time.
At 1 p.m., he convened a meeting with the post-production team of "The Woman Who Left" in the editing room on the 20th floor.
Editor Lao Zhou is a veteran in his team, having been with the post-production team since "Black Coal, Thin Ice".
Fu Yibai handed him the hard drive containing the filming footage and spent nearly an hour explaining his vision for the entire film.
Old Zhou was taking notes quickly in his notebook, while several young editors next to him were also scribbling in their own notebooks.
These people have worked with him on several films and know what his standards are.
"Director Fu, when is the rough cut expected?" Old Zhou asked, looking up.
"I'll give you a month. I want to see a rough cut by August."
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
After leaving the editing room, Fu Yibai entered the elevator and pressed the down button.
As the elevator passed the sixth floor, the doors opened, and Wang Ou stood at the elevator entrance.
She wore a dark purple silk shirt and black wide-leg pants, carrying a Hermès bag. Her hair was cut shorter, just reaching her shoulders, making her look capable and aloof.
When she saw Fu Yibai in the elevator, she paused for a moment, then a slight smile curved her lips.
"Mr. Fu, you're back."
"Yeah, I just got back today."
The elevator doors closed, leaving only the two of them in the enclosed space, where they could smell her faint perfume.
"What have you been busy with lately?" Fu Yibai asked.
"I just finished recording an interview program."
I'm going to Shanghai next month to film a new movie.
The elevator stopped on the third floor, and Wang Ou prepared to leave.
"Want to come to my place tonight?"
Wang Ou paused for a moment and nodded.
"it is good."
Upon arriving at the underground parking garage, Fu Yibai got into the car that had been arranged in advance.
At 3 p.m., Fu Yibai brought Zhang Xinyu to China Film Group.
"Here you are. And who is this?"
"My new assistant."
Fu Yibai sat down opposite Han Shanping.
"You little rascal, you've changed assistants again."
Take care of yourself.
"Uh, Xinyu, why don't you sit on the sofa over there?"
Fu Yibai waved his hand, signaling Zhang Xinyu behind him to go and rest.
"Is filming for 'The Woman Who Left' finished?"
"Yeah, we just finished filming."
Are you confident?
"Do your best and leave the rest to fate."
"I called you here today because it's a very important matter."
Han Shanping nodded and took out a document from the drawer. The cover of the document bore the logo of China Film Group Corporation.
"The listing date has been set."
Fu Yibai took the document, opened it, and glanced at it.
[It was officially listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange on September 17.]
The number of new shares to be issued and the expected amount of funds to be raised are clearly stated.
"November 17th."
Fu Yibai repeated the date.
"right."
Han Shanping leaned back on the sofa.
"The China Securities Regulatory Commission has already approved it; now it's just a matter of going through the formalities."
The 5% stake you hold will easily see its valuation multiply several times over.
