Chapter 337 Everything is safe
Chapter 337 Everything is safe
"What do we do now?" Aunt Ping asked, looking at the impatient Old Mrs. Gu outside the door.
If they went out now, they would surely provoke her anger and reprimands. But they couldn't keep hiding forever either.
Ruolan opened the kitchen glass door and called out towards the sofa, "Aunt Xue, Aunt Ping, are you out of beef?"
"Beef?" Aunt Xue glanced at Aunt Ping.
After realizing what was happening, Aunt Ping quickly replied, "Yes, it's under the refrigerator."
Ruolan listened and bent down to open the refrigerator.
She looked around but couldn't find the beef she was looking for.
"Aunt Ping, where is she? I can't see her," Ruolan said, peeking out again.
Aunt Xue glanced at the commotion outside the door caused by Old Madam Gu, then looked at Ruolan anxiously searching for beef in the kitchen. She reached out and nudged Aunt Xue beside her, saying, "Go to the kitchen and help Madam look for it."
"Okay," Aunt Ping replied, afraid that Ruolan would rush out of the kitchen.
When Ruolan saw Aunt Ping coming over, she moved aside and said, "I just looked through it and didn't see any beef."
Aunt Ping bent down to take a look, then reached out and picked out the beef from among the meats. "Madam, this is the beef."
"Ah?" Ruolan blushed and looked at Aunt Ping embarrassedly. "I thought it wasn't, so I just tossed it aside."
"Beef that's been in the refrigerator isn't as easy to tell apart as fresh beef," Aunt Ping said, her gaze falling on the vegetables already prepared on the kitchen table. "Madam, do you need any help?"
Ruolan quickly refused, saying, "No need, Aunt Ping, I can manage on my own."
Understanding that Ruilan wanted to prepare dinner for Gu Yinshen herself, Aunt Ping stopped asking questions.
Turning around and leaving the kitchen, she closed the glass door behind her. Returning to Aunt Xue's side, Aunt Ping leaned close and said, "Try making the call again."
Keeping her knocking on the door isn't a solution either. If the noise attracts a crowd and gets filmed, it could cause a huge uproar online.
Aunt Xue and Aunt Ping were undecided, so they put their hopes on calling Gu Yinshen again.
The phone was left on the office desk, while Gu Yinshen was in a meeting.
"The Wu Group is also eyeing that land in the northern suburbs. I heard that Mr. Wu of the Wu Group invited the person in charge of the land to dinner the day before yesterday."
"I have photos here."
The sales manager handed the phone to Gu Yinshen.
They have already invested a lot of manpower and resources in this land, but the other party has been slow to budge. They are neither directly offering the land to them nor outright refusing them.
Now that the Wu family has interfered again, Gu Yinshen finally understands why they have been dragging things out.
When two companies are competing, the biggest beneficiaries are those in charge of the project. Even if one side collapses, the other side will always be there to take over.
After looking at the photos, Gu Yinshen tapped his fingers lightly on the table.
Each blow struck the hearts of the others with a resounding thud.
What to do next should be done according to Gu Yinshen's arrangements.
"How much have we invested in this project so far? Have we calculated it?" Gu Yinshen asked, looking up at everyone.
"Mr. Gu, this still needs to be calculated in detail."
"Yes, we've revised the project proposal multiple times in the past two weeks."
"I tried to contact their manager several times afterward, but I was turned away each time."
Hearing their words, Gu Yinshen said, "We're not doing this project!"
"what?"
"Mr. Gu, are you serious?"
Gu Yinshen nodded, "Since the other party isn't very sincere about cooperating, then we shouldn't take this project. Go and take a look at the land in the southern suburbs, and find some time to go and inspect it on-site."
He refused to believe that the other party would have the upper hand over the Gu family.
The employee who was named immediately agreed.
The project in the northern suburbs was incredibly difficult; it almost wore them out. Now that they've switched to the project in the southern suburbs, everyone is relieved and feels much more relaxed.
"Meeting adjourned!" Gu Yinshen stood up and left.
As soon as he left, the office erupted in chatter.
"Are you really giving up?"
"Then all the effort invested in the early stages will have been wasted."
"There's nothing we can do about it. President Gu won't let anyone hold their nose and do whatever they want. But picking up packages in the northern suburbs is actually just average. They're trying to lead the Gu family by the nose and make us compromise."
"Alright, stop talking and get back to your workstations. If Mr. Gu sees you like this, you'll all be in big trouble."
Upon hearing this, everyone immediately bent down to gather their belongings and headed out one after another.
Gu Yinshen returned to his office, looked at his phone on the desk, and picked it up to see several calls from home.
"Why did you make so many calls all at once?" Gu Yinshen wondered as he called home.
Aunt Ping and Aunt Xue stood nervously behind Ruolan, while Grandma Gu stood opposite Ruolan.
Grandma Gu kept ringing the doorbell, and eventually Ruolan found out.
She asked Aunt Ping to open the door and invite Old Mrs. Gu in.
After entering, the two sat facing each other for several minutes without saying a word.
"Mom," Ruolan called out, sounding unaccustomed to the occasion.
She had no feelings for her, but she knew that she was Gu Yinshen's biological mother, and as Gu Yinshen's wife, she had to show her at least some respect.
Hearing Ruolan's call, Old Mrs. Gu looked up and glanced at her. "Is Yinshen not home today?"
"Yes, he took Tian Tian to school this morning and then went to the company." As she spoke, Ruolan looked up at the time and turned to look at the kitchen.
There's still beef stewing in that pot; if I don't go check on it soon, it might get tough.
"Is something the matter?" Old Mrs. Gu asked, noticing Ruolan's absent-mindedness.
Ruolan hesitated for a moment, then nodded in agreement, "That's right, Yinshen said he was very busy with work and wouldn't have time for lunch, so he asked me to prepare lunch for him at home and deliver it to his company. I just stewed some beef, it should be ready by now."
"Go and take a look," Grandma Gu said, pointing to Aunt Ping.
Aunt Ping looked down at Ruolan, and Ruolan nodded in response.
“I’ll go to the company with you in a little while,” said Mrs. Gu.
"Together?" Ruolan asked doubtfully. "Should we tell Yinshen beforehand?"
"No need to tell him, let's go straight there, I need to talk to him."
When Ruolan heard what Old Madam Gu said, she couldn't refuse directly, so she could only nod reluctantly.
The atmosphere became deathly silent once again. Grandma Gu looked around and realized that things were different now.
"Madam, the beef in the pot is ready. Would you like to serve it?" Aunt Ping came out of the kitchen and asked Ruolan from beside her.
Ruolan wanted to cook another dish, but with Grandma Gu sitting there watching her, she couldn't get away.
