Chapter 10 He likes you
Chapter 10 He likes you
"How did you get in by climbing over my wall?"
Lin Fan looked at the girl in front of him, who was a little younger than him, with a headache. Her brand-new dress was covered in mud from climbing over the wall.
"Didn't I always come to play with you like this before?" Lin Yue'er replied, tilting her head in dissatisfaction.
"The past is the past. Do you still think of yourself as a child?"
Lin Fan rubbed his forehead, speechless. Had this person not grown up yet?
When they were little, Lin Yue'er did often climb over the wall to play with the original owner, but that was all in the past.
The original owner hadn't spoken to her for several years, and even when they met, they had only seen each other from afar.
Lin Yue'er ignored all of that and started searching through Lin Fan's house as if it were her own.
“Look, my brother Lin Fan, who dislikes me because I’m a child, still keeps this. He even wrapped it in oilcloth.”
Lin Yue'er pulled out two wooden swords that had been carved with a hook knife.
“I remember my brother used to love playing games with wooden swords.”
As Lin Yue'er spoke, she took a stance with her right hand holding a sword, and then threw the other sword to Lin Fan.
Lin Fan didn't take it; the sword hilt hit his hand, causing him to wince in pain.
"Moon, sit with me for a while."
Lin Yue'er awkwardly and carefully put down the wooden sword in her hand, then sat down on the ground next to Lin Fan.
The two fell silent for a moment, neither knowing what to say.
Memories flooded Lin Fan's mind. After he turned ten or twelve, Yue'er came to play with him less and less.
Although Yue'er's parents were polite to him on the surface, Lin Fan could sense their distance and wariness towards him.
Even though everyone was roughly poor, Yue'er's family was still much better off than her own, a jinx who had lost her father and land.
Yue'er is beautiful, and her parents must hope that she will marry into a wealthy family so that they can receive a generous dowry.
Lin Fan refers to the original owner of this body, who often secretly watched Yue'er from afar as she grew more and more beautiful each day.
"I'm getting married tomorrow."
"Ah."
"I've come today to say goodbye."
"Ah."
"What are you humming about!" Lin Yue'er suddenly raised her voice.
Lin Fan looked into her eyes, which were like crescent moons, but were already filled with tears.
She pouted and looked at Lin Fan angrily.
Lin Fan hesitated for a moment, feeling a bitter taste in his mouth, as this might be the last time he saw Lin Yue'er.
However, this was not his own feeling, but rather the result of the original owner's memories.
"Moon, there's something I need to tell you. It's that he likes you."
Lin Yue'er was stunned. These words were too sudden, and a blush quickly crept up her cheeks.
She moved a little closer to Lin Fan, rested her head on his shoulder, and gently stroked the back of his hand.
The door was suddenly flung open.
Lin Shuixiu was stunned when she saw the two people in the corner of the room. She rubbed her eyes hard.
In an instant, a multitude of words flew to her lips: morally corrupt, shameless, and offensive to public morals.
Her mind raced for a few seconds, her gaze drifted elsewhere, and she silently left, turning off the door behind her.
Lin Yue'er's face had turned as red as an apple, but she still clung to Lin Fan's hand relentlessly.
"Lin Fan, what did you just say? I didn't hear you clearly. Say it again. Who did you say it was? Who..."
Lin Fan took a deep breath.
"I mean, Lin Fan always thinks about you secretly at night. He, no, I like you."
Lin Fan knew that the one who liked Lin Yue'er was not himself, but the 'Lin Fan' who no longer existed.
He couldn't explain these things to Lin Yue'er, so he just said it on behalf of Lin Fan. Consider it fulfilling his long-cherished wish.
Lin Yue'er heard it clearly this time, and she hugged Lin Fan even tighter.
“I know, of course I know. You’ve made it too obvious. Everyone in the village knows.”
Lin Fan: "Yeah. He's probably the only one who thinks it's a secret."
"I like you too." Lin Yue'er finally mustered up the courage to say what she had always wanted to say.
"Yes, I know that, and everyone else knows that too."
"Am I being that obvious?" Lin Yue'er cupped her face in her hands and rubbed it vigorously.
"Right, let's get down to business." Lin Yue'er slapped her forehead.
Lin Fan tilted his head in confusion, "Wasn't that important business just now?"
Lin Yue'er stuck out her tongue. "That's a matter of personal feelings between lovers."
As Lin Yue'er spoke, she began to unbutton her clothes.
"Brother, I really can't do this for you." Lin Fan was startled and quickly tried to reach out to stop Lin Yue'er.
Unexpectedly, she stopped after unbuttoning just one button and reached her little hand deep into her clothes.
She slowly pulled out strings of copper coins, still warm from her body.
Ten strings of copper coins are then tied together with a red string. Each string contains one hundred coins, and ten strings contain one thousand coins. One thousand coins is equivalent to one string of cash.
The copper coin, still warm and fragrant with the girl's body heat, was placed in Lin Fan's hand.
Lin Fan felt a mix of emotions. What was this all about? He didn't even have a reason to refuse.
"Let me tell you, Master Ma's family brought a lot of betrothal gifts and several truckloads of things, which filled our yard."
Lin Yue'er forced a smile, trying to appear happy, and gesticulated wildly as she spoke.
"There was also a pig inside. It not only ate the flowers my mom planted, but it also trampled my brother's little rocking horse. He cried for a long time. Isn't that funny?"
Lin Yue'er talked and laughed to herself.
"It's been a long time since I've seen you. I couldn't come empty-handed, so I just grabbed a little something."
"So, you kept it from your parents? You stole your own betrothal gifts? And you sneaked over the wall into my house without a trace?"
Lin Fan thought that if it were true, her skill level was already high enough to be an assassin.
"Hehe, no, my parents probably know."
Lin Fan nodded, "Then thank you. Consider it a loan. I'll definitely pay you back when I have the chance. I'll return it to your parents' house."
"It's alright, it's alright, we're practically family, it's fine if you don't pay it back."
The girl buried her head between her knees, preventing Lin Fan from seeing her expression.
Lin Fan felt despicable; he shouldn't have accepted it so readily, but he didn't know what to do.
He had nothing to repay the girl with; even if he were to return the money, it would only be an empty promise.
Lin Yue'er felt the atmosphere was a bit awkward and suddenly pulled her head out from between her knees.
"By the way, Brother Xiaofan, how did you get all these injuries?"
The two were no longer as distant as when they first met; some of the feelings they had developed over the years had been rekindled between them.
Lin Yue'er gently stroked the wound on Lin Fan's face.
Lin Fan briefly recounted what had happened to him, skipping over the writing incident and the death of that family of three.
Even so, Lin Yue'er couldn't help but sob softly after hearing this, and she pressed Lin Fan's head to her chest.
"I...I didn't know you had suffered so much..."
Lin Fan let her hug him.
The girl's body temperature and fragrance made him feel relaxed all over, and his long-standing fatigue surged back up.
……
Lin Shuixiu pressed her ear against the door and gradually heard the sound inside the room stop. She was a little worried and hesitated whether to push the door open and go in.
Although I indulged them just now, I can't let these two kids really make a serious mistake.
Just then, Lin Shuixiu felt her body lighten as the door she was leaning against suddenly opened.
She almost bumped into Lin Yue'er, who was coming out of the house.
Lin Shuixiu felt extremely embarrassed. "Yue'er is here. The clothes are nice. Our Yue'er looks just as good as the young ladies in the city in this outfit."
After saying that, Lin Fan's mother regretted it so much that she almost dug out a three-bedroom, two-living-room house with her feet. She realized that she had just made conversation out of nothing.
Lin Yue'er smiled sweetly at Lin Fan's mother, then put her finger to her lips in a shushing gesture, "Shh, he's asleep."
"Fourth Sister, goodbye."
……
Lin Fan was sleeping soundly, only occasionally frowning.
A bead emitting a faint green light appeared out of thin air and slowly fell onto him.
"Childhood sweethearts, fleeting memories, past events like smoke, forgetting the past."
"A young man's feelings are stirred up in a moment. He is punished for his mistakes and rewarded for his merits. He is given a Soul-Suppressing Pearl to calm his mind and relieve his worries."
